Celebrating Education and Asian Heritage Week

Stanley Mills is gearing up to celebrate Education and Asian Heritage Week from May 1st to May 5th. The Peel Board of Education celebrates Education Week every year in the Spring. This year's theme for Education Week is #BetterTogether. The week is packed with numerous activities for students and teachers alike, aimed at inspiring success, hope, and confidence in every student and educator.

Students are working hard to prepare artwork with a special focus on how we are #BetterTogether with our environment. Parents and teachers are joining hands to read bilingual books in Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Urdu, and Bengali. Additionally, Grade 5 students are working on preparing a Slide Show highlighting famous educators from both Canada and Asia.

To add a cultural touch to the celebrations, students will order samosas. On Thursday, all students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 will enjoy a Bhangra Workshop. There will also be a special showcasing of student work in the library.

On May 5th, Stanley Mills will have an assembly to close both events, where awards will be given to several teachers, facilitators, students, and volunteers to honour them for their contributions in the field of education. The Dance Club will perform a Punjabi Dance, and the Synergy Club will sing songs in four languages: Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, and Bengali. Grade 5 students will also display their Science Projects in the Library.

The students and teachers are excited and looking forward to having a fun-filled and educational week ahead. These activities are aimed at promoting inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and encouraging students to embrace and learn from different cultures. Education and Asian Heritage Week is an opportunity for parents to participate in their children's education and immerse themselves in their cultural heritage.
