What is the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)?
Under the Ministry of Education's Parent Involvement Policy, all school boards are required to have a parent involvement committee (PIC). The Peel District School Board's PIC was established in 2008 and includes parent members, the director of education, trustees and board employees.
What is the purpose of PIC?
PIC exists to support student success by helping the board boost meaningful parent involvement within schools, as well as plan and implement strategies to involve more parents at the regional level. By working collaboratively with the Peel board and school councils, PIC encourages parent engagement through numerous initiatives, including annual events and parent resources.
How can I become involved with the PIC?
If you are interested in joining PIC, we encourage you to submit an application. Available positions will be advertised each year in the spring on www.peelschools.org and/or visit www.peelschools.org/parents/involved for more information about PIC.
All meetings held throughout the year are open to the public.
